Hi.
I want to use the latest verison of Spring with .NET 2.0 (VS 2005 Beta 2). I'm interested in using both the IoC container and the new AOP framework. Has anyone done this? Are there any known issues? Can I use the 1.1 dlls or do I have to re-compile the binaries for 2.0?
What about 3rd party framworks that Spring uses like Log4Net? Do I have to re-compile that as well or get a 2.0 version of it?
Regards,
J#

Hiya
I'll refer you to my reply here (http://forum.springframework.net/viewtopic.php?p=923&highlight=#923)... Spring.NET 1.0 final is due to be released in a week, and .NET 2.0 support is due to be addressed in the 1.1 timeframe.
To address your specific questions, the last time I cracked open up the Spring.NET codebase in VS 2005, I had a few (not many, but a few... maybe ~20) warnings and suchlike. Mainly due to classes being obsoleted, certainly nothing critical... full suport for the new .NET 2.0 features just needs (of course) to be implemented consistently. In the interim (until the Spring.NET team addresses this issue (http://opensource2.atlassian.com/projects/spring/browse/SPRNET-131) head on in the 1.1 timeframe), you can certainly download the source and recompile it yourself against 2.0 :)

Hiya
When is will version 1.1 be available?
Gee, I don't know really. Aleks 'The Man' Seovic is going great guns on the ASP.NET integration, which is pretty much done... just some tweaks, and a lot of documentation, example projects, etc.
We've also got the Data Access libraries to work on. We definitely will have support for ADO.NET, and (maybe) NHibernate & iBatis.NET. We don't currently have a lot of code in this regard, so that's where the main focus of development will be for 1.1. We also want support for .NET 2.0.
Mmm... 2-3 months? Yeah I know, I've really nailed it down for you there :? In any case I'll go update the wiki (http://opensource.atlassian.com/confluence/spring/display/NET/Home) with the roadmap.
Ciao
Rick
