Default latest CVS version working ?

    Hi,

I'd like to know whether the latest CVS version is supposed to work.

Since I was getting some weird XmlSchemaExceptions, I wanted to test the bin/1.1 version from the latest snapshot. I tried the MovieLister example and get : (using Mono)

I have tried with the .Net 2.0 runtime, and I do not experience the same problems as with Mono.

So, this leads me to the question : is Mono supposed to be supported ? In other words, should I file a bug against this, or isn't it supposed to be a bug ?

    Hi Sami,

Are you using mono in your production environment and if so, on what platform? We can start to investigate mono support as long as there is a real demand for it but it would initially be a subset of the full functionality (spring.web is intertwined with the specific asp.net runtime from MS). It seems like you have recent releases working well under mono so that is a good sign and in the past the issues relating to running on mono have always seemed minor. It would be great if we could bring on board some mono experts, such as yourself to help out in this regard. Let me know what you think... Thanks for taking the time to file the bug report.

    Cheers,
    Mark

    Hi Mark,

Yes, I am using Mono 1.1.13, on Ubuntu Linux. Mono now supports most of .Net's BCL, and ASP.Net's support is nearly perfect . (My goal is to develop a C#/ASP.Net application on Mono/Apache)

Mono seems to work with the 1.0.1 release of springframework.net (haven't deeply tested it, though), so getting basic support for the CVS version shouldn't be a very hard task.

In any case, I would love to help you in diagnosticating and fixing things so that they run on Mono. Maybe we can open a dedicated thread / forum for discussing this ?

    Regards,

    Hi,
The dev list might be better suited at first. Would you mind subscribing to that? If not we can start a new thread here. The first question I have is it sufficient to compile using MS csc and then try to run the unit tests under mono? I would do this on the current build machine (as well as my own dev box.)
    Cheers,
    Mark

    Hi,

no problem with the mailing list. I tried to subscribe, however, I get :
502 - List services temporarily unavailable
Concerning Mono. Yes, you can compile applications with microsoft compiler and run them with Mono.
Additionnally, mono seems ot work with JUnit, so there should be no problem to execute the tests with mono.

The update command should be used to update your working files and folders to their latest repository versions.
